Sahten - The Skatepal Cookbook

Sahten - The Skatepal Cookbook

Sahten - The Skatepal Cookbook is the first book published on behalf of skateboard organisation SkatePal.

'Sah-ten' translates roughly from Arabic to 'delicious', however it's a phrase that's frequently used in Palestine when food is placed on the table. A bit like 'bon appetit'.

Sahten is a portrait of the current skateboard scene in Palestine, but told in the form of a cookbook. Each recipe is contributed by someone closely connected to or impacted by SkatePal's work –  from local Palestinian skaters, their parents, shop owners, local heroes, volunteers and even some SkatePal patrons – such as acclaimed chef Sami Tamimi (partner of Ottolengi). The book is a mix of recipes, character profiles, interviews and various other features (like how to turn a snapped deck into a chopping board) – all peppered with photography from various volunteers over the years.
