Piece of Colonne. Fragments of Waves

Piece of Colonne. Fragments of Waves

I’ve been working on architecture photography since 2008. Until the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, I had never doubt about the building (motif) would disappear tomorrow. moreThrough the catastrophe, I had to face not the memories of the architecture based on continuous sequence, but the temporarily of that. For Piece of Colonne, Fragment of Waves, I built a column of colored memo blocks, photographed them and made 11 booklets. I thought that the pages of a booklet that appear and disappear as they are turned, were like a continuously ebbing and flowing of waves. Please feel free to touch the installation and create your waves, and see waves made by others. The familiar act of turning a page may feel a little different from usual — it’s a feeling of architecture’s breath for me.
