One Single Kite

One Single Kite

We love kites, kite-making books, tutorials, and photography. Creating this book was the natural choice for us.

This publication showcases the process of making one single kite. The model in this book is based on a traditional Japanese design called Kaku Dako, which translates to “square kite.” Traditionally, this kite is made from paper and bamboo. Our version, however, is a demountable kite made from ripstop nylon with a carbon fiber frame, like most of our other kites.

For us, there’s as much fun in making your own kite as there is in flying it. We also want to show that building a kite involves many beautiful stages. We hope this book provides insight into the craft and inspires you to make your own version.
