FIG001 - Borders and Boundaries is an invitation to reconsider political lines, social constructs, emotional walls, relationships, etc—not as fixed or final, but as dynamic and fluid. For in every border there is potential for crossing, for transformation, for change. This publication asks us to reconsider what it means to be on either side of a line and how those lines shape our existence. The terms Borders and Boundaries, so readily understood, are paradoxical: they define what is separate, but their very existence suggests something shared. After all, they exists only in relation to what lies on either side.

To explore this concept, we brought together a group of 63 artists and 16 writers to share their own interpretations and offer a multiplicity of perspectives.
